Kasia Kay: Fleeting Memories - Solo Exhibition

SNEHTA is happy to announce a new solo exhibition by Kasia Kay, Polish-American artist and independent art curator.

Kasia Kay: Fleeting Memories

SNEHTA Residency - I.Drosopoulou 47, Kypseli

Opening Day: September 23rd, 8 pm -10 pm

Duration of the Exhibition: September 23rd - 29th, 2021

Opening times and by appointment:  Daily from 5 - 9 pm.

The exhibition showcases Kasia Kay’s sculptural and mixed media works inspired by her three-year-long stay in Athens from 1997-2000 and her return to the city to pursue a solo residency at SNEHTA. Through her works in the exhibition, the artist reflects on her memories and life cycle that connects the past years and the present time. Often, in her artwork, Kay dives into introspection and her personal life journey. She might be inspired by everyday ritualistic objects such as universal “prayer beads,” which become personal allegories and material epigrams of the circle of life. In her solo exhibition at SNEHTA, Kay uses the Greek κομπολόι (komboloi (Eng.)) as a source of inspiration. She creates strings of beads and closed circles that are perennial expressions of equilibrium and flow. Stemming from a more profound impression of the Attican landscape, the artist has returned to commemorate her previous venture by creating a new one.
